Hunter Killer 2018

Hunter Killer The U.S. Los Angeles class submarine USS Tampa Bay vanishes as it shadows the Russian Akula class submarine Konek in the Arctic. Rear Admiral John Fisk (Common), is the commander of the Virginia class submarine USS Arkansas under the command and unconventional commander Joe Glass, (Gerard Butler) to look into the disappearance of Konek.

In the meantime, a Navy SEAL team under the command of Lieutenant Bill Beaman (Toby Stephens) is sent to observe the Russian naval base located in Polyarny, Murmansk Oblast, however, their mission is put at risk in the event that Martinelli (Zane Holtz), the team’s new Marksman, the team’s designated recruit gets injured in the HALO drop. When they arrive at the naval base, they observe the defense minister, Admiral of the Fleet Dmitriy Durov ( Mikhail Gorevoy), conducting a coup of terror and taking Russian president Nikolai Zakarin ( Alexander Dyachenko) as a prisoner and swiftly realize that Durov intends to trigger a war. The Russians almost discover their location in the course of a radio intercept however, the SEALs escape unnoticed. Martinelli is wounded in the leg by an officer from Russia who shoots blindly into their hideout and forces the team members to abandon him.

Arkansas discovers the destroyed Tampa Bay and the sunken Russian sub-marine Konek. This indicates that the attack took place inside, not external. They are also attacked by another Russian Akula submarine Volkov, that has been hiding under an iceberg, but Glass is able to defeat the ambusher, and also rescue Russian survivors from Konek, including its commanding officer, Captain 2nd rank Sergei Andropov ( Michael Nyqvist).

At the base, the U.S. government learns about the coup. Admiral Charles Donnegan ( Gary Oldman) suggests preparing for war, while Fisk suggests the troops from Arkansas be taken to meet Beaman’s team after they have successfully rescued Zakarin. Glass manages to convince the reluctant Andropov to aid by leveraging Andropov’s knowledge of the challenging submerged topography and the minefield that protects the base, Glass navigates Arkansas close to the base without being detected. Meanwhile, Beaman’s team rescue Russian Presidential Security Service Agent Oleg ( Yuri Kolokolnikov), who was earlier shot by Durov’s gang when they tried to stop Durov from taking Zakarin hostage. They infiltrate the base, where they succeed in rescuing the president Zakarin. But, Oleg and his two colleagues, Devin Hall ( Michael Trucco and Matt Johnstone [ Ryan McPartlin ], are killed during the rescue. With Martinelli acting as sniper cover, Beaman delivers the injured president to Arkansas‘s deep-submergence rescue vehicle, then goes back with only Martinelli, saving him just as he is about to be executed.

The Russian and U.S. fleets are preparing for combat. Arkansas suffers more harm when they are attacked again by RFS Yevchenko, an heavily equipped destroyer currently commanded by Captain Vlade Sutrev ( Ilia Volok), who is a part of Durov’s plan. However, Andropov can communicate a message confirming that the president Zakarin is aboard. When Durov decides to command his forces on the base to shoot missiles at the surfaced Arkansas, Glass does not take action in fear that firing at the Russians could start the war which he’s trying to prevent. Andropov’s former co-workers, who are still in the same boat as him refuse to obey Durov’s commands and destroy the missiles that are coming in using the close-in weapon system. They strike Arkansas and destroy Durov’s naval base headquarters. The war has been averted. Glass is able to dock Arkansas with the Russian naval base to return Zakarin and Andropov’s surviving crew to their country. Arkansas is accompanied by Beaman, Martinelli and then goes to the U.S.A. with an Russian Navy guide.
